Samsung Messages has been replaced by Google Messages on the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 in the US.

Samsung has started phasing out its Samsung Messages app in the US, beginning with the Galaxy S22 series. The new Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 foldables will continue this trend, launching without the Samsung Messages app pre-installed.

According to a post from the Samsung Members app (via 9to5Google), these new foldables will come with Google Messages as the default SMS/RCS app. Users who prefer Samsung Messages can still download it from the Galaxy Store.

From the Flip6 and Fold6 models onward, the Samsung Messages app will not come pre-loaded on US devices. Instead, Google Messages will be the default, offering a new and enhanced experience for safe and fun communication, including global messaging capabilities.

However, Samsung Messages is expected to still be pre-loaded on units sold outside the US. For instance, European review units of the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 include both Samsung Messages and Google Messages apps.
